Multifluss
New electronic instruments
In this project, we go in search of novel sound generators, new instruments, new interactions, and ways of playing - experimenting with sounds, tones and noises; materials, waves and resonances; rhythms and movements.
AI x Music Festival

The first "AI x Music Festival" organized by Ars Electronica and the European Commission as part of the STARTS initiative is dedicated to the encounter between human creativity and technical perfection. From September 6-8, 2019, Ars Electronica is gathering musicians, composers, cultural historians, technologists, scientists, and AI developers from around the world in Linz for this event, which will be devoted to the interaction of humans and machines with concerts and performances, conferences, workshops, and exhibitions. Our music tour starts here.

Acoustic instruments

Alles, was klingt, konnte nunmehr als Instrument gelten!”
-- Stefan Roszak
Experimental instruments / experimental instrument manufacturings are opposite concepts and counter-designs to the conventional, traditionally called "classical" instruments of the predominantly occidental music history. This highly developed set of instruments, which has long been technically mature, can hardly be changed today. With the radical expansion of the concept of music and the "emancipation of sound" in the experimental music of the 20th century - especially by the composer John Cage - the instrumental concept was also comprehensively expanded. Everything that sounds could now be considered an instrument!
Under the experimental music pedagogy of Stefan Roszak we develop our own instruments with simple materials.
Electromechanical sound forming and interaction

To develop an electronic instrument we learn Arduino, and investigate with sensor interactions between people and electro machine, Then we build mock-up functional modules.
I have worked with the ultrasonic sensor. It can measure the diestance. In my conzpt, the instrument sounds different with different diestanz. To make the sounds stable, I developed the playing style a lot.
Multifluss

My instrument is called multifluss, which in German means a river that contains many different things. It does not consist something of stones, water, or stars, but arises from the movement in the air between two poles.
Indicated by ywei strings, there is an imaginary square space between them. It is divided into four differently sounding sections. Depending on the movement - fast or slow - different sounds can be produced in it.
